OCYM Everest Challenge

The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) members of St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church (STIOC), Liverpool, have decided to take up the challenge to raise funds for a very charitable cause. They have decided to use a rather innovative yet visually appealing approach by challenging themselves with energetic exercises resulting in a virtual climb of Mount Everest. The youth relay team aims to cover the height of Mount Everest equivalent to 29,029 ft. (8848 metres) on a Treadmill with an incline and the circumference of the base of Mount Everest, a distance of 64.5 kilometres using stationary exercise bike.

The ground breaking event takes place on Sunday, July 12th 2015, from 12 pm onwards at the Bebington Oval Cricket Ground in Wirral. The course is part of the Bebington Oval Sports Centre complex, entered from Old Chester Road, CH63 7LH. It is a grassed area just SW of the athletics track, and centred on the cricket ground. Car parking is available with toilets in a club house adjacent to the course.

Any donations would be gratefully received and anyone wishing to sponsor the team can contact us. There will be fun activities for all age groups who are visiting the event on the day including bouncy castles, games, etc.
